Saison of the Witch

This new saison is a little bit darker than their usual Saison de Lily. They used Belgian Special B and Abbey malts to give it a nice light brown hue and impart some darker notes. Stone fruit and raisin flavors are present with some burnt/chocolate orange as well. At 20 IBU and 6.4% it's also more sessionable than their usual 8.1% Super Saison. They used a new English hop called Minstrel and a NZ hop called Pacific Gem to give it some brighter fruit notes to complement the darker notes from the malt.

Saison or Farmhouse Ale

Meaning 'season' in French, Saisons were typically given to farm workers during the summer months to hydrate because the water wasn't potable. Hence they're also known as Farmhouse Ales. They are quite complex with lots of spice and fruitiness due to the special yeasts used. The spice profiles are varied including peppercorn, coriander, ginger, anise, orange, clove, vanilla, and more. They have a tartness that is characteristic as well.
