“The Great Pretender IPA” is a hop forward, low ABV IPA and is the 2nd in Magnolia's Pretender series. The malt base is Golden Promise, with some Pilsner, and a touch of Wheat, Rye and Crystal Pale malt. It is hoped with Southern Cross (from New Zealand) and Citra. The beer is straw to pale gold in color and the aroma is full of citrus fruit like grapefruit, lemon and orange, with plenty of pine. The flavor starts clean and slightly sweet, but moves to melon, tropical fruit, and then to spicy citrus. The finish is dry, and bitter, like an IPA.
