Perhaps one of Magnolia’s least understood beers, in that it bears virtually no resemblance to a hefeweizen, wit, or other better known wheat beers (other than the fact that the grain bill is indeed 50% wheat). Weather Report Wheat is much more closely related to English bitters, with its 50% Maris Otter foundation, goldings hop character and English ale fermentation. The name is an irresistible pun on the trio of Dead songs known collectively as Weather Report Suite. Like Stout of Circumstance, it’s a beer name that preceedes Magnolia, having hatched a plan to use it when Dave was homebrewing.
