This brew was originally created to showcase the nation’s Slow Food movement which gained popularity around the same time Sonoma Springs was founded. A lighter, sessionable style beer intended for the hot, dog days of summer. A crisp farmhouse ale that is straw to golden in color with a crisp and dry finish to showcase the spicy side common to this style of Belgian beer. the elevated heat of fermentation creates peppery and earthy tones and you will find cardamon present in the aroma and as a nice complement to the mild floral hoppiness.
Saison or Farmhouse Ale
Meaning 'season' in French, Saisons were typically given to farm workers during the summer months to hydrate because the water wasn't potable. Hence they're also known as Farmhouse Ales. They are quite complex with lots of spice and fruitiness due to the special yeasts used. The spice profiles are varied including peppercorn, coriander, ginger, anise, orange, clove, vanilla, and more. They have a tartness that is characteristic as well.
