Hopsy is looking for a talented, driven and enthusiastic Category Manager who will be responsible for the selection, development, profitability and growth of the Hopsy product portfolio, achieved by establishing win-win relationships with suppliers, brokers and customers. The Category Manager will run the beer show:

 

 

  • Builds company portfolio of products for sale in each market
  • Analyzes new suppliers and items for potential fit, sales and profitability, including viability of supplier items, minimums, market potential and trend, and finally, determines how the supplier will fit into company model
  • Manages supplier relationships and supply schedule across markets to generate the highest market traction and revenue and sales potential
  • Samples supplier products to ensure only the best product fit in portfolio
  • Drives new product onboarding process
  • Meets existing and onboards new suppliers in all markets
  • Holds periodic supplier reviews to determine sales and revenue growth opportunities and performance by the company and the supplier
  • Negotiates supplier pricing and sets product prices to drive sales and profitability.
  • Meets with local market General Managers and executives to determine ways to increase sales and profitability or address any customer service issues
  • Reports KPIs to Finance and Operations to stay in line with company objectives
  • Identifies and resolves supplier issues with pricing, quality, on-time delivery, in-stock positioning
  • Analyzes data from previous promotional activity to influence future items and pricing and volume
  • Provides inspiration and leadership to suppliers and industry partners
  • Reviews and gathers market trends and information that keeps the company competitive and profitable and establishes the company as an industry leader
  • Analyzes competitive information and pricing and share insights with broader team
  • Responds to requests from customers, local teams regarding new items or supplier potential
  • Attends trade shows to network with industry professionals and source new products
  • Other duties as assigned


Job Requirements:

Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in business or related field preferred

Experience Required:
3 or more years related business development in category management/supplier relations, sales, purchasing or related fields
3 or more years experience at retail or distribution level preferred

Knowledge specific to the category of responsibility
Highly motivated
Confident leadership skills
Experience in negotiations
