DESCRIPTION

Inky black and with a tan head, this brew features heavy roasty tones with bittersweet chocolate notes and the unmistakable flavor of fresh coffee.

This brew features heavy roasty tones with bittersweet chocolate and the unmistakable flavor of fresh coffee. Touches of dark fruit aromas carry through a touch of sweetness for some balance, though this beer is really focused on highlighting the play between roasty barley and coffee flavors. Inky black with offwhite head, ‘nuff said.

This beer is an homage to the midnight road trips everyone’s taken in their younger years on a whim. Heavy doses of coffee are usually involved, so we wanted to make sure that flavor was a big feature on this brew.  As a disclaimer--always designate a driver.

Coffee stouts tend to have aggressive flavors that make it difficult to find harmonious food pairings, however, we feel that it's very achievable with this beer.  Try out some smoked baby back ribs with as much bark and as you can achieve through your smoker, you really want that roasty, carbon element to come through. Balance it with a sweeter more Kansas style BBQ sauce and you’ll be in heaven. For Dessert, there’s no better way to finish this off than with the sharp contrast of vanilla ice cream.

STYLE NOTES

Stout

The American innovation has done wonders with this style adding coffee, chocolate and oatmeal flavors and aromas to the creamy roasty attributes inherent in a stout. Barrel aging in whiskey barrels or lots of hops are just some of the variations you can explore. Not necessarily higher in alcohol these beers are all about texture, richness, creaminess and full flavor for an even fuller experience.
